Does the firewall stop incoming and outgoing data from that IP address?

If I go to the firewall and click on the little fire icons and it turns gray, does that stop all traffic? I have pretty high useage and I am not sure why. But I am trying to clamp down on it.

@DragonClaw

Yes, that should stop the traffic for that application. Our paid “Ask to connect” mode stops connections before they start https://www.glasswire.com/buy/#Ask_to_connect.

@ken_glasswire If that’s the case then why is my traffic so high. Nothing glasswire shows me could account for all the up and down traffic. And if I block that connection, then why is there still traffic measured instead of 0?

@DragonClaw

GlassWire is made especially to help you find out the answer to that question.

If you go to GlassWire’s graph tab and you see a lot of traffic there you can click the graph and it will show you exactly what apps/hosts are using your data.

This guide can help you get started: https://www.glasswire.com/help/

Check the GlassWire “Usage” tab to see even more information.

Okay, found it. It was a Blizzard updater. BUT I have that all blocked already by glasswire and the firewall tab shows no data movement.

@DragonClaw

Do you see any dmp files on your desktop? I ask because this can be a sign our driver crashed and that’s why you’re seeing no data.

If you unblock IE or a browser and use it does the data show up on GlassWire’s graph?

@Servo_GlassWire

So it was not the blizzard updater afterall. I changed the timeframe of the graph and it’s other things. Here are the SS of a few tabs.

I don’t see anything that’s a dmp.

I unblocked IE and it doesn’t show up on the graph. I am considering updating it to the premium service if this job pans out, but It’s still kind of odd how it works. Maybe I just have the wrong idea about it or something. Or I just break things, lol.

Edit. Also, does glasswire have to be open for this to work or on boot does it automatically start doing its thing? (Of course I can assign programs to start on boot if that’s not the case)

@DragonClaw

It sounds like something isn’t working correctly. Please uninstall GlassWire, reboot, then reinstall the software (use the “clean” install option in our installer).

Just did that. But as far as my google chrome process, toggling the fire ( the orange fire meaning that it is blocked by firewall I think) doesn’t change the data rate, BUT when the fire is lit, Amon Dîn, or whatever it is, I cannot access the internet. The up drops to 0, but the down does not.

AND I’m sorry but I must be blind. I found like 4 dmp files.

@DragonClaw

Do you use Nahimic software on your PC? We found they changed their driver recently and it’s causing a conflict with GlassWire and we’re working on another fix that should be out soon.

I’m not sure. It’s not something I installed though. Never heard of it in my life.

@DragonClaw

Please go to the top left GlassWire menu and check “About” and make sure you’re using the latest version of GlassWire https://www.glasswire.com/changes/.

If you are not please upgrade.

If you are using the latest version please send the dmp file to our “bugs” email address https://www.glasswire.com/contact/ using a cloud service like Dropbox.

I reinstalled and the new version seems to be doing alright. I’ll send the dmp files.
