I am using glasswire 3.4.768
This has only been an issue for me on this build, never experienced it prior, but I only noticed it more recently. I forget when I updated to this build, but it seems like it was shortly after it came out. My first dump shows february 11th. So not sure what could have changed to cause this.
The crash seems to occur when I have new requests pop up and I hit allow. I can’t say for sure if this is how it happens every time. Glasswire seems to be running as a service, but the GUI portion seems to crash. The problem is I don’t even know when it crashes. I hit allow on everything and it seems sometimes the allow works. The problem is it might be crashed out and I don’t know it. It then starts blocking things that would normally prompt a request. This is when I notice when things aren’t connecting. I have to open up glass wire and start allowing everything it recently blocked while the GUI was crashed and not open. I am glad the firewall continues protecting me, but this is annoying when it happens and I don’t notice till something isn’t connecting and I realize why.
I have this same issue. The UI just disappears or crashes, randomly, when I take just about any action. Unpredictable. I see nothing about the crashes in the windows error logs, either. It appears the background service (Glasswire Control Service) is still running when this happens. Because it adds rules to the windows firewall, I am going to assume there is no lapse in protection but… who knows?
That’s good I suppose to know i’m not the only one and it’s not specifically me with issues. I realized this crash coincides with my computer updating to windows 11 24H2. Which is more likely the culprit. It just barely became available for my pc.
I have uploaded the logs and sent them along with wetransfer like I read in another thread forum. I got an email tonight saying they have not been downloaded yet.
Should I have contacted help instead? Or is glaswire working on a new version for better stability and support for windows 11 24H2? I thought this was the place to ask.
And now they are blocking posts from appearing on the board, under the guise of “we need to approve this first”, so that people don’t share something they don’t want to be shared.
Ok running the latest version and having the same problems of the client crashing. Was trying out a new un_install program…“uninstalr” and it reported the glasswire installation as being 88GB…WT F…so I went is and cleared the logs, except for the last day…“uninstalr” now reports the glasswire installation as being 62GB…and my client has stopped crashing. Have not worked out yet where that 62Gb is but the crashing has stopped,
That sounds very abnormal, or your installer isn’t reporting correctly. Unless you have massive amounts of crash files?
My glasswire folder contains about 75.9 MB. Under %userprofile%\AppData\glasswire\ that folder for me is around 2.63 MB with all the log files.
My desktop seems to be the destination of where glasswire crash dumps are sent and they are fairly large.
I am also facing a similar issue. After I launch Glasswire, it runs for a minute or two, and it just vanishes. I think there is some incompatibility with the current version of GlassWire and the latest Windows build. I hope the Glasswire team looks into it ASAP, as I just renewed my Elite subscription.
I also checked and can confirm that my control service is still running but my glasswire is not loaded.
Yeah the windows firewall continues to work, but it’s a problem when you have click to ask and the client crashes while prompting you and anything after that just gets blocked by the firewall. We are all eagerly awaiting new update to fix these issues.
