Glasswire not logging data usage while on VPN

I noticed that while connected to PIA VPN, Glasswire for android is not logging data usage for any app in my device.

Phone: Hwawei P30 Pro (Android 9.0)
Glasswire Version: 2.0.324r

But if I disconnect to PIA VPN everything is back to normal. Is this the way it is?

GlassWire should count VPN data also, are you sure it’s not logged under the PIA app if you check the live graph? Lots of our customers use a VPN.
