Issue when Installing on Windows 7

I’m attempting to install on Windows 7, but I am facing an issue. It appears that it is sticking when trying to install the service. As far as I can tell, the service isn’t even there (it isn’t listed in Task Manager or the Services MMC Applet). The log is as follows:

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate, it was literally just installed.

I put a space in the link in the log purposely as new users can’t post links.

@FrinkMan

Have you ever, or are you able to run an update with that Windows 7 PC? I have seen this issue with Windows 7 installs that have never been updated.

Other tips are here https://www.glasswire.com/faq/#glasswire-cant-connect-local-server that can also apply to your issue.

Did those things help?

That’s a very good point as we don’t know the installed version.

The minimum supported version is currently Windows 7 Service Pack 1 which starts at version 6.1.7601.

Usually when I have seen this issue in the past it is because someone just installed Windows 7 on a virtual machine with no Windows updates. Then they find GlassWire will not work.

I then recommend the user run Windows update and it solves the issue.

Also, here is a great article on how to update to Windows 10 from Windows 8 or 7.

That was the issue, yep!

It is a machine on which the hardware can’t be changed, so I’m forced to stick with Windows 7. Thanks for your help!
