Need more information about process in the firewall tab

This is about Firewall tab.
I want to selectively limit which services can access the internet. Just having “Host Process for Windows Services” is totally not enough! Windows firewall itself has an option to control services individually. This should also be present in glasswire. Also, since processes often have same names, there should be command line/process id information.

Thanks for your feedback. We hope to add this ability in the future.

Lack of that feature stops me from buying. My use-case is to prevent unwanted telemetry with firewall. But telemetry is often done by services, so I need to block them selectively…
Windows Firewall Notifier is able to show service name and for now I use it even though it is much worse than glasswire in many aspects.

Thanks for your feedback on this (again).

https://blog.glasswire.com/2015/09/15/165/ Some tips on blocking Telemetry are here too if it’s helpful for you, and if it applies to your Windows version.

Also Microsoft has added many new privacy controls since GDPR https://www.theverge.com/2018/1/24/16927056/microsoft-windows-10-data-collection-viewer-privacy.

My experience so far with the best method for blocking Windows services is to use TCPView by Sysinternals to identify the PID (Process ID) for the service host process using the network connection.

Then use Process Explorer by Sysinternals to locate the TCP/IP details of that PID to determine the exact Windows process name using that connection. Then if possible I will disable that process. Blocking Windows service host itself is obviously not an option.

GlassWire now shows information about processes and process IDs.
