Is this a once and done type of purchase or something I have to renew?
About the History bit (the 6 months). Once the 6 months is over, do I lose all the history and start over?

After 6 months you will not lose all history, but GlassWire will only keep history of the previous 6 months. Us deleting all your history after 6 months would be annoying and weird in my opinion.
