Version 2.1.158: Virus message

Hi,

Since I have updated to Version 2.1.158, I get all few days this massage:

Windows version is 1903.
Any idea?

Regards, Robert

I think this bug is left over from our previous version. It should be safe to ignore the alert.

  • Fixed a bug that could cause a Windows Defender false positive Trojan:Win32/BlockMsav.A!reg. If you are experiencing this issue please be sure you’re using our latest software.
  • Fixed some incorrect French language translations.

I am wondering because I didn`t got that message at previous version. Where can I download the previous version?

I want to test it.

Regards, Robert

@malone7

We don’t want to distribute versions of GlassWire that cause virus false positives.

If you want more details… the old version had the ability to block Windows Defender. If you block Windows Defender using the Windows Firewall API Windows Defender will decide this rule change is a “Trojan:Win32/BlockMsav.A!reg” and give you an alert.

We disabled the ability for GlassWire to block Windows Defender so people won’t get this upsetting false positive.

Windows Defender wouldn’t call GlassWire itself a Trojan, but instead it would flag the rule change in the Windows Firewall API.
