What is incoming versus outgoing?

Incoming means coming in. Outgoing means going out.

GlassWire uses these terms for:

  • Incoming data/traffic is received as it is coming in to the computer. This includes downloads, web page contents and streaming video. GlassWire often represents incoming traffic with a down arrow .

  • Outgoing data/traffic is sent/transmitted as it is going out from this computer. This includes file uploads and requests for data including search requests, web page requests and DNS requests. GlassWire often represents outgoing traffic with an up arrow .

GlassWire also uses incoming and outgoing for bandwidth which is a measure of the rate of transfer for incoming and outgoing traffic.
