Dear Support and Development Team,
I hope this email finds you well. I would like to express my appreciation for the overall quality and performance of the application.
I am writing to formally request the addition of a “Password Protection” feature to safeguard the application’s sensitive settings and core modules. I believe this enhancement would significantly elevate the security level of your product.
Justification and Key Benefits:
-
Prevention of Malware Tampering: Many types of malware and ransomware attempt to disable the firewall or modify its rules upon infiltration. Enabling password protection would act as a critical barrier, preventing malicious processes from turning off the protection without authorization.
-
Security in Shared Environments: In workplace settings or shared computers, this feature prevents unauthorized users (or accidental clicks) from altering vital security configurations.
-
Accidental Uninstallation Prevention: This feature could also be extended to require a password for uninstalling the software, ensuring that protection remains intact.
I would kindly suggest implementing this feature for the following critical actions:
-
Modifying Inbound/Outbound rules.
-
Temporarily or permanently disabling the firewall service.
-
Changing advanced system-level settings.
-
Uninstalling the application.
I sincerely hope that the development team will consider implementing this essential security feature in future updates.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Thank you for the detailed feedback and well thought out suggestions! Password protection is an interesting idea and we can see the value it would bring, especially in shared environments and as an added layer against malware tampering. We will make sure this gets passed along to our development team for consideration. We appreciate you taking the time to share this with us!
Dear Support and Development Team,
Thank you for your positive and encouraging response to my suggestion regarding password protection. I truly appreciate that you took the time to consider it and that you see the value in this enhancement.
As someone who cares deeply about security and usability, I would be very interested in actively collaborating with your team to further test, refine, or even beta-test this feature once it enters development. My goal is to help make your product even more robust and competitive in the market.
In this regard, I would kindly like to ask if it would be possible to receive a complimentary license (or an extended trial) for your software. Having full access would allow me to explore the application more deeply, understand its current architecture better, and provide you with even more detailed, actionable feedback – not just on this feature but on overall improvements. I believe this would be a win-win situation: you gain a dedicated power-user and tester, and I can continue to support your product with greater insight.
Of course, I completely understand if this is not feasible, and regardless of your decision, I remain grateful for your attention to my suggestion. I look forward to seeing the future development of your excellent software.
Thank you again for your time and consideration.
Best regards,
Hi @ehsan_ghadiri, thank you for your kind words and enthusiasm!
We don’t currently have a program in place for this type of arrangement, but feel free to send me a direct message and we can chat further about ways to support your continued involvement with GlassWire.
Thanks again for being such an engaged member of our community!

I also wanted to provide some feedback regarding your feature request.
GlassWire actually already has a password protection setting!
When enabled, it requires admin credentials to change certain settings within the app, including:
- Security features (alerts)
- Data plan
- VirusTotal
- Remote access
- Incognito mode
One thing worth clarifying: this setting is scoped to GlassWire itself, not your device. Actions like uninstalling the application or modifying Windows Firewall settings directly are controlled by the operating system. Windows will prompt for admin privileges for those independently of GlassWire.
That said, your feedback on expanding what’s covered within the app is noted and appreciated. We’ll keep this thread in mind as we think about future improvements.
hi.
Thank you again for your encouraging response! I would love to continue this conversation privately as you suggested.
However, I’ve noticed that I don’t have the option to send a direct message to you (or any other member) on this forum. It seems my account may not have messaging privileges enabled yet.
Could you please check your forum settings and see if there’s a way to grant me permission to send DMs? Alternatively, if you prefer, you can reach out to me via email at [your email address] , or let me know if there’s another channel I should use.
I’m very keen to discuss my password-protection idea further and explore how I can contribute more actively as a tester.
Looking forward to your guidance.
Best regards,
