We’ve rolled out a new GlassWire update with automatic cleanup for old apps, a more flexible firewall list, and a batch of fixes from your reports. Thanks to everyone who shared feedback!
What’s New
- Automatic App Cleanup: GlassWire can now automatically clear firewall rules for apps you’ve uninstalled (on by default) or that have gone inactive (off by default), after a threshold you choose in GlassWire Protect Settings (30 days by default). Every cleanup shows up as a log entry, and if the app reconnects later, GlassWire treats it as new rather than restoring its old rule.
- Firewall List Filters: Filter the GlassWire Protect list by allowed or blocked incoming and outgoing connections.
- Block All Mode Improvement: A banner now appears on the GlassWire Protect tab when Block All mode is active, since per-app rules are paused while it’s on and only take effect again once you switch modes.
Improvements & Fixes
- Cloudflare WARP: Fixed an issue where sites could fail to load when using Cloudflare WARP or similar VPN tools.
- Network Driver Crash (BSOD): Fixed a rare Windows crash caused by the network driver.
- GlassWire Service Crash: Fixed a crash that could happen while the service was processing driver data.
- Network Driver Memory Leak: Fixed a memory leak that could build up over several days of uptime and slow down your system.
- Traffic Monitor: Fixed an issue where popups on the Traffic Monitor tab didn’t show the host name or country.
- Firewall Rules: Fixed an issue where the firewall didn’t ask or create a rule for certain apps.
- Network Scanner: The Network Scanner tab now explains when a Wi-Fi network name shows as “Unknown” because Windows Location Services is turned off, instead of leaving the interfaces list empty.
- Hardware Resources: Improved video memory capacity accuracy.
- Right-Click Menu: Fixed a crash that could happen when opening a right-click menu.
- Translations: Fixed translated text overflowing its UI element in some languages.
Quick Reminder for Legacy Systems
This release requires Windows 10 or 11 on a 64-bit system, same as our previous version. If you’re still on Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server, or a 32-bit system, remember that GlassWire 3.8.1061 remains available on our website as the final version that supports you, so stay on that version rather than updating.
