This is on Windows. I run Wireguard to connect to my home network. I don’t want to actually block Wireguard but I was testing the blocking function. The Wireguard app can still reach out and connect even though “Click to allow” is enabled and is blocked.
Hi Mike_P
Does that happen every day or was it a once off?
4Kb and 1kb is very small in data.
You could always use a program call Wireshark to investigate further,
on what IP address it might be connection to etc…
Even GW in the Traffic Monitor would show this info to give give some details
on what’s is going on
I just reinstalled Glasswire with the Clean Install and Restore Windows Firewall Default settings and began allowing/blocking apps. I received a prompt to allow/block Wireguard and I chose block but the app is still communicating.
Hi Mike_P
GW cant block Wireguard because it is a VPM client
and creators a tunnel between your computer and the VPN server
All the best
I suspect that when you block Wireguard it will only block the app from making standard web requests, e.g. to check for app updates.
Wireguard creates it’s own network interface which can be blocked with a custom Windows Firewall rule, however, this is more advanced than the basic application rules that GlassWire uses.
Ok, thanks for the information
