Having trouble deactivating GlassWire Basic, Pro, or Elite? Try this!

If you can’t deactivate GlassWire where nothing happens when you go to the top left GlassWire menu and choose “deactivate” please try this.

Please right click the Windows taskbar and choose the Windows task manager, then find “GlassWire” under services and stop the service temporarily (by right clicking it).

Next remove the file license.dat from the C:\ProgramData\GlassWire\service folder.

Now Exit GlassWire at the top left menu by exiting it, then restart the GlassWire service.

Now restart GlassWire and try activating with your license.

I reinstalled Windows
When I try to activate, it tells me that my key has been used multiple times.
I don’t have a deactivate option in the top left menu.
I don’t have a licence.dat file in C:\ProgramData\GlassWire\ (or any of its sub folders)
I sent an email to activation@glasswire.com with my key (around 8pm last night)
How long does it usually take to get a response?

Thanks.

Hi FiB3R

If you don’t get a response you could always try this email address
help@glasswire.com

If you need to deactivate Glasswire go to the top right hand side of the UI and click the round circle with the red dot. In that area you can Deactivate Device.

Hi GlassWare

I sent an email to help@glasswire.com 24 hours after sending one to activation@glasswire.com

I also signed up for a v3 account, so there is no red dot on the circle (as I am now signed in?), but there is still no deactivate option.

I can now open the management console though, so should I delete the Endpoint from there? I don’t want to mess things up any worse than they already are.

Thanks.

Hi FiB3R
I am running a version 3 software of GlassWire not sure what is v3 account.
Here is a screenshot where i mentioned before to deactivate Glasswire
account
With regards to management console i don’t use it, best to get advice from the GW team
when they get around to your email.
Thanks…

I think with v3 or the change of ownership of Glasswire, the ability to create an account became an option?

I’m not sure of the details, but I’m pretty sure that wasn’t a thing before.

This is what I’m seeing now…

Thanks.

EDIT: I just tried my code again and it worked
EDIT 2:The Help and Activation email addresses are both valid. They had responded and fixed it for me.

Thanks for trying to help, GlassWare. I really appreciate it

Edit 3: It seems that the “Deactivate Device” option is only available if the device is already activated. So I think this action can only be performed before reinstalling Windows?
I am waiting for email conformation on whether this is correct or not.

EDIT 4: I re-read the email I had already been sent, and paid more attention this time.

“To avoid this in the future go to the top Account Setting and choose “Deactivate Device” before switching your activation code between PCs.”

So yes, you must deactivate before reinstalling Windows.

Lesson learned.

It is unfortunate that the message given is “the key has been used multiple times”, rather than “this key is currently being used on the maximum amount of devices allowed”.

And that there is no clear way for a customer to deactivate without contacting support (in my situation)

Would creating an account so that I could access the Management Console, and then deleting the Endpoint from there achieved the same result? Would that have freed up my key?
