Is GlassWire Pro proper as a firewall for game server hosting on windows?

Hi, I was wondering if GlassWire Pro proper as a firewall for game server hosting on Windows?

@raykai

Thanks for considering using GlassWire. Are you hosting your game locally or on a remote server?

You can use GlassWire to monitor the server’s network activity in detail, and allow/deny connections. Our user guide is here GlassWire Network Security Monitor & Firewall Help.

Our software comes with a free trial if you want to give it a try.

If your gaming server is lightly loaded then it might work OK to use GlassWire. But a heavily loaded server could bog down more quickly when GlassWire running and network throughput increases…

The better solution is usually to run a separate proxy firewall on a dedicated server. So your game would have a dedicated server and any application-level filtering and inspection can also be handled by another computer. But, if you don’t have the money to do run a separate server then GlassWire could be a useful option .

Good question. GlassWire Pro is a pretty solid choice for a firewall on Windows. It’s got some cool features like network monitoring and graphing so you can see what’s going on with your connections. As for game server hosting, it should work just fine, but you might want to make sure you’ve got all the right ports open.
