Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce that the first 64-bit (x64) version of GlassWire is coming on Monday, June 29. This is something many of you have been waiting for, and we’re thrilled to finally be able to share it.
The new version will be available to download from our website on that date, with automatic updates rolling out a couple of weeks after.
Moving to x64 is a major milestone for GlassWire, bringing better performance, improved stability, and a stronger foundation for everything we build going forward.
Compatibility
The new x64 version requires Windows 10 or 11 on a 64-bit system. It does not support:
- Windows 7
- Windows 8
- Windows Server editions
- 32-bit (x86) versions of Windows
If you are unsure, go to Settings > System > About in Windows and check the System type field.
GlassWire 3.8.1061 will remain available on our website as the final version supporting Windows 7 and 8, Windows Server, and 32-bit Windows.
If You Are on an Incompatible System
We recommend disabling automatic updates before they roll out. Go to Settings > General in GlassWire and uncheck Enable automatic version upgrades. When the new version becomes available, you will see an update notification. Simply choose Skip Version.
If the update does trigger, GlassWire will attempt to install and show an “Installing Update” screen. After a few minutes it will fail and show an “Update failed” dialog. Just close it. Your existing GlassWire installation will not be affected.
If you try to install the new version manually, the installer will show a “GlassWire is not compatible with this Operating System” message. Click OK to exit.
Upgrading
You do not need to uninstall your current version before upgrading. Simply run the new installer and your existing firewall rules and settings will be retained.
New: Uninstaller Data Prompt
This release introduces a new prompt in the GlassWire uninstaller. Previously, GlassWire retained your data and settings on uninstall, so that reinstalling would restore your firewall rules and configured settings automatically. With this release, the uninstaller will now ask whether you want to delete your data and settings or keep them.
- If you choose to delete your data, your data and settings will not be carried over on reinstall.
- If you choose to keep your data, everything will be retained as before.
Note: The “Use Legacy Driver” installation option has been removed in this release and will no longer be available.
