since the update from 3.5 to 3.6.859,
sorting by blocked applications is no longer available.
How to remedy this problem ?
Hi p.bignon
Sorting can be done by clicking the In Connections Tab
You can also click the Active Apps Tab which changes that list as well. Just have a play around with that.
Of course, but it’s separated into active and inactive applications.
Why remove such a useful sorting feature?
I bought GlassWire for that very reason.
That’s a question for the GW team.
I am just another use like yourself
and try to help out others where i can.
I guess this is because you can now block in and out independently. So classifying an app as blocked is not so simple anymore. I guess you could have a “Fully Blocked” category though.
I agree that it was one of the most useful features. Blocking apps and connections is the most important feature of any firewall. This should remain a prominant feature!
Same here, I’ve been sorting by blocked and now it’s harder to find the blocked apps, please think of a way to do this ![]()
I find it bizarre that major changes like this are made without any user consultation or beta testing. Whilst longstanding customer requests, like certificate or wildcard based rules, continue to be ignored.
Bidirectional firewall control may be useful to some, but the scenarios in which access is only required in one direction will be rare. The main focus of this release is to make the firewall component a premium feature so it is no longer available to free users. The actual firewall is of course already included for free with Windows. GlassWire is only providing a control interface to Windows built-in security features.
I also note they have spun the removal of the GlassWire Score as providing a simplified interface. I guess having a cleaner UI is more important than having “better insight into the safety of the applications running on a PC”. Whilst the usefulness of this score was debatable, the collection, storage and processing of the data will have had a cost and so I suspect that is why the feature has been axed.
The commercial model has changed from harvesting data from users, to making them pay to use the app.
Thanks for the feedback! With the introduction of bidirectional firewall, sorting by blocked applications can be done for the In Connections and Out Connections columns separately, but not altogether. We will keep your request in mind for a way to sort or filter the entire list of applications by Blocked or Allowed.
