VirusTotal Work-Around

VirusTotal only allows 1 scan per day per person via their API. The premium program is unaffordable for the average user.

GlassWire already has utilized a database of which programs are used in order to show how commonly-used an app is.

My thought is to integrate these two ideas to reduce necessary VirusTotal scans by allowing users to contribute unique scans to the database and using hashes to identify previously scanned programs.

Afaik you could just sign up for a free VirusTotal api key. It would be for:" The Public API is limited to 500 requests per day and a rate of 4 requests per minute."

Maybe they’ve changed things, but it only allows one item scan per day.

You mean after you got your new free VirusTotal Api key and entered it into Glasswire you still got only one scan a day?
If yes then I’m out of ideas
If no I would consider getting a NEW key and see if it works for you (I did that months ago and for me it worked).

omfg. Why? Why would they upgrade it but not change the existing profiles? All this time…
