Hello,
i had same issue and tried almost everything including some work with logs, registries and so on with chat gpt .. but finally its working. I just uninstalled glasswire, deleted all folders from program files + program data, installed older version - link was in another thread on this forum. Old version started correctly, then updated itself to newest and its working just fine.
I also had to activate premium again, my glasswire profile now displayed 2 instalations (on 1 PC) - 1 online and 1 offline. Premium was activated on the offline version. so i removed it, and activated it on the online version.
PS: i selceted clean install, and i did not selected reseting Windows firewall settings
And i also did not deactivated bitdefender antivirus, it works together just fine
A clean install with a full firewall reset should fix any configuration problems. There must be some other network or security app install which is conflicting/blocking communication between the GlassWire desktop app and the background service.
as I posted here Glasswire can't connect to local server help - #21 by Kels it occurred the same issue to me when I installed GlassWire Free some years ago. In that case it was a 3rd party firewall that blocked the connection between GlassWire client and its service. As user ittroll wrote here it could be also a security app, many AV suites includes a firewall too (Kaspersky for example). Maybe it could be also the Windows Firewall blocking an incoming connection between the GlassWire client and the service. Normally the Windows Firewall should popup an alert when a incoming connection would occur, like the screenshot I’ve attached below, but you can check the incoming connection rules in Windows Firewall with Advanced Security panel (Incoming connection rules tab on the left). If you find there some GlassWire entry which is disabled you can enable it and see if that will work. The same with Outgoing connection rules tab.
Earlier I found out that this version appears to be crashing as well. It’s only happened once but I’m going to monitor it and rollback as necessary. Might try a clean install but from what I’ve seen from others, that really doesn’t help.
